Percheron Horse
This wonderfully sturdy horse has a well proportioned body and an excellent temperament. It has free moving paces and can be used as a ridden horse and in harness.

Conformation
- The head is broad and well defined with a big generous eye. The ears are large and the nostrils are wide.
- The neck is thick set and has a muscular crest.
- The withers are well defined.
- The back is short and strong with big broad powerful hindquarters.
- The depth of girth and the broadness of the chest allow ample room for the heart and lungs.
- The sloping shoulder gives good ground coverage and the limbs are short and strong with good hooves.
- The tail is well set on with a thick mane.
History
The horse originates from La Perche in Normandy, France. Due to their strength and power they were used in the middle ages as war horses.

Famous Fact
Most Percherons are between 15 and 17 hh but there was one called Dr le Gear who reached 23 hh .

The Percheron Horse Society was formed to help preserve and promote and offer a register of stallions and new foals.
