Jutland Horse
A wonderful looking heavy horse that has been used as a riding and working horse, it has a a lovely nature combined with great power.

Height
15 to 16 HH.

Colour
Chestnut often with a flaxen mane and tail.

Conformation

  • Broad head with a big and kind eye.
  • The neck is short strong and muscular.
  • The shoulders are well muscled and slightly upright.
  • The girth is deep and the chest is wide.
  • The hindquarters are powerful and the limbs are short and strong with good hooves.
  • The tail is low set and the mane is fairly thick.
  • Legs have feathers.
 

History
These horses were bred in the Jutland Peninsula of Denmark and were originally used as war horses in the middle ages and also for medieval knights. The Cleveland Bay, Shire and Suffolk Punch have influenced the Jutland breed.
