Boulonnais Horse
A neat looking and compact draught horse who combines great strength and power with a superb temperament.

Grey.
Conformation
- A broad yet elegant looking head with a beautiful kind eye and generous expression. The ears and nostrils are also well proportioned.
- The neck is short and powerful with a wonderfully muscular crest.
- The withers are well defined with broad muscular shoulders and a strong back.
- The girth is deep and the chest is wide.
- The hindquarters are well rounded and powerful with short strong limbs and hooves.
- The mane thick and the tail is well set on.

History
Dating back from the Roman times these horses have been influenced with Oriental blood such as the Arab and German blood such as the Mecklenburg. They are from the Boulonnais region region of Northern France which is on the coast and so they were often used by the fish merchants. The Boulonnais region was heavily under attack in world war 1 and 2 and the breed was almost wiped out.
