Ariegeois Horse
These little horses may be small but they are very strong and very tough. They can cope with the harsh environment of the Pyrenees mountains as well as being sure footed and with active paces, making them a very versatile choice of pony.

- The head is well proportioned with a generous eye and small ears.
- The neck is short and strong.
- The withers are well defined and the back is short and strong.
- The shoulders have a moderate slope to them and the limbs are short, straight and strong.
- The hindquarters are powerful and the tail is low set.

History
The Ariege river in the south west of France is where this horse takes his name. Over the years it has been used as a pack horse, a carriage horse a riding horse and for working the land.
