Andrew Nicholson Wins Pau
Andrew Nicholson (NZL) has claimed his second 4 star event this year after riding the impressive Nereo to victory at Pau, where the pair impressively finished on their dressage score of 39.3.

Nereo who is by Thoroughbred stallion Fines and owned by Deborah Stellar also partnered Andrew to Team Bronze at the London Olympics and finished fourth individually was on form from start to finished.

In second place was Jonathan Paget riding Frances Stea's 14 year old horse Clifton Promise who had a costly one show jump down to finish just behind on 40.7. In third place was the reigning world and European eventing champion Michael Jung (GER) riding the 13 year old Leopin FST who dropped one fence and picked up one time fault.

Britain's William Fox-Pitt finished 4th on the Irish Sports Horse Bay My Hero and 5th on the 12 year old stallion Chilli Morning, a horse that was produced by Nick Gauntlett and also formerly ridden by Mary King. Andrew Nicholson also finished in 7th place riding the Irish Sports Horse Mr Cruise Control a horse that is owned by Mr Robin and Mrs Nicola Salm.

Les Etoiles de Pau marks the start of the lucrative and highly sought after HSBC Classics Eventing series which also includes events at Badminton, Burghley, Kentucky, Luhmuhlen and Adelaide. The prize money on offer for the series champion is $150,000 with further prize money up to 5th place. Points are gained throughout the series for finishing in the top ten with 15 points for 1st place down to 1 point for tenth giving Andrew Nicholson a great start to the series in which he finished in second place last year being only one point behind William Fox-Pitt.
