Ruth Edge Wins Gatcombe Horse Trials
Ruth Edge has once again won the British Open Championships at Gatcombe, this time riding Two Thyme. Despite tough competition from Mary King, Oliver Townend and Lucinda Frederciks, Ruth Edge who lay third after the Dressage phase rode a clear round in the show jumping and then went on to perform a fast and clear cross country round to win this years title and qualify for the HSBC FEI World Cup in Poland.

Mary King and Lucinda Fredericks were both on a top dressage score of 36.0 but unfortunately Lucinda Fredericks withdrew her horse Headley Britania after her show jumping round and Mary King had a run out on Imperial Cavalier on the cross country course. Mary King's other ride Kings Temptress finished in 7th place.

Bill Levett took third place riding Hippolyte and Oliver Townend had one show jump fence down but performed a fast and clear cross country round to finish in second place on Flint Curtis.

The very sad news of the day was that Ginny Howe's horse Cavort had to put down after a cross country fall.
