Westphalian Horse
This handsome looking horse has wonderful paces and a excellent temperament. It has immense hindquarter power making it a great sports horse.

15 to 17 HH

Colour
Bay, black, brown and grey.

Conformation

  • Intelligent handsome head with large kind eyes and good sized nostrils.
  • The neck is long, curved and well set on.
  • The withers are prominent and lead on to a short, strong back.
  • Hindquarters are rounded and powerful.
  • The limbs are long and strong with good hooves.
  • A lovely deep girth and wide chest.
 

History
This horse takes its name from the Nordrhein-Westfalen region of North West Germany. It was originally used as a work horse and then as an military mount before being turned into what is now a very athletic sports horse. This was achieved with the introduction of Arab, Thoroughbred and Hanoverian blood which gave the horse speed, stamina and power combined with a sound temperament.
